Extreme wave value analysis under uncertainty of climate change scenarios off Iberian Peninsula coast

چکیده

Extreme wave value analysis under uncertainty scenarios was developed to estimate climate characteristics at 17 stations in southwestern European coast off the Iberian Peninsula. A comprehensive dataset downscaled with Wave Watch III (WWIII) model by Meteogalicia MarRisk Project used considering results of models from Coupled Model Intercomparison 5 (CMIP5). Descriptive statistics for significant height (Hs), peak period (Tp), and mean direction were performed historical data (1960–2005), projected two twenty-year time periods Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) (2026–2045 2081–2100). Hs Tp extreme values study area obtained using Gumbel, Fréchet Weibull probability distributions 10-, 50-, 100-year return period. Obtained showed that: decrease North South are higher than those calculated any RCP future scenarios; appear be constant all stations; means have frequency occurrence Q4 (270°–360°). Moreover, computed, which can as design criteria structural analyses maritime works.

Uncertainty Investigation of Precipitation and Temperature Scenarios for the Sira Basin under Climate Change Impact

Results of assessment of the future climate change impacts is associated with some uncertainties. Considering the range of uncertainties increases reliability of the results. In this study, climate change impacts on daily precipitation, maximum and minimum temperature of Sira basin are assessed using LARS-WG model, for 2036-65 period. Accordingly, uncertainty of new emissions scenarios (RCP2.6،...

Evolution of extreme Total Water Levels along the northern coast of the Iberian Peninsula

This paper assesses the evolution of storminess along the northern coast of the Iberian Peninsula through the calculation of extreme (1%) Total Water Levels (eTWL) on both observed (tide gauge and buoy data) and hindcasted (SIMAR-44) data. Those events were first identified and then characterized in terms of oceanographic parameters and atmospheric circulation features. Additionally, an analysi...

Uncertainty , Extreme Outcomes , and Climate Change

Focusing on tail effects — low probability but very adverse outcomes — I incorporate distributions for temperature change and its economic impact in an analysis of climate change policy. I estimate the fraction of consumption w(τ ) that society would be willing to sacrifice to ensure that any increase in temperature at a future point is limited to τ . Using information on the distributions for ...

Analysis of Extreme Temperature Change Trend under Future Scenarios in order to Assess Climate Fluctuations (Case Study: Sanandaj and Saghez Synoptic Stations)

Climate change is a phenomenon that has affected natural ecosystems and all aspects of human life in recent years. Therefore, identifying and predicting climate change can greatly help manage it and reduce its harmful effects. The purpose of the present study is to identify whether or not occurrence of climate change by extreme indices including TXx and TNn during 1961-2015. In addition, CanESM...
